音乐是来自人类心灵的声音。随着人民生活水平的迅速提高，音乐成为人们重要的精神享受。已经有着近十年历史的上海亚洲音乐节为满足人们的精神需求，作出了应有的贡献。值得高兴的是，亚洲音乐节已经引起了国际音乐界的日益关注，众多歌手将亚洲音乐节当作展现才华的舞台。亚洲音乐节正成为上海和整个亚洲的一次盛大的音乐节日。
本着”推新人，出新歌，，的宗旨，本届亚洲音乐节将通过传统的新人歌手大赛和新开辟的青春组合大赛，努力发掘更多的音乐新人。经国家文化部和上海市政府批；隹，从本届起，亚洲音乐节将每年举办一次，相信它将为推动上海、全国乃至亚洲音乐，特别是通俗音乐的健康发展起到积极的作用。预祝2000上海亚洲音乐节取得圆满成功。

Music is the sound from human's soul. With
rapid improvement of people's living standard, music has become
an important form of the spiritual enjoyment. Over the past
ten years, Asia Music Festival has contributed a lot to cultivate
of people's tastes in art.The great joy is that the Festival
has attracted a growing attention and more and more new singers
take it as a stage to display their talents. For the music circle
both in Shanghai and even in Asia, the Festival is a great occasion.
With the aim of producing new singers and new songs, the present
Festival, as usual, offers a contest for new singer and in addition,
a contest for Team Singer. As is approved by Chinese Culture
Ministry and Shanghai Municipal Government,the Festival is to
be held annually, which is sure to play a positive part in promoting
development of music,especially pop music in Shanghai, China,
and Asia as well. In conclusion, I wish Shanghai Asia Music
Festival 2000 a complete success.
